TissueDB/Tissues/Taenia coli
The taenia coli are three longitudinal bands of smooth muscle running along the outer wall of the cecum and colon. They converge at the base of the appendix, which makes them a landmark for locating the appendix during an open appendectomy. The taenia coli is a special case of muscle rather than a muscle layer: in simulation it is built as a discrete band laid along the cecum, not as one of the abdominal-wall muscle sheets.
