Joint Capsule is a fibrous connective tissue envelope surrounding synovial joints, consisting of an outer fibrous layer and inner synovial membrane.



  • Ligament — capsular ligaments are regional thickenings
  • Cartilage — articular cartilage lies within the capsule
  • Fascia — periarticular fascia surrounds the joint capsule
