TissueDB/Tissues/Iliac Vessels
The iliac vessels (external iliac artery and external iliac vein) form the inferolateral boundary of the myopectineal orifice and are the critical structures whose identification governs safe mesh placement during transabdominal pre-peritoneal (TAPP) and totally extraperitoneal (TEP) laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair. In low-cost simulation they are commonly represented by polyethylene hoses (typically 30 Fr) painted blue and red to give residents reliable visual landmarks for the pre-peritoneal dissection and tack-placement steps.
