The Feeding of the 5,000
This recipe will feed a large gathering, town or village.
- 2,500 pounds Tilapia fillets
- 100 pounds yellow cornmeal
- 50 pounds all-purpose (plain) flour
- 2 pounds salt
- 1 pound cayenne pepper
- 20 gallons of milk
- 4 dozen eggs
Making the dish
Mix dry ingredients together well. In a separate container, break eggs and mix well. Add milk to eggs. Dip the fillets in egg/milk mixture first, then dip in dry ingredients. Fry in hot vegetable oil. Serve with hush-puppies, coleslaw, and raw onion pieces. Collect any left-overs and donate to the hungry.
