Moving OrgPOV[edit source]

I'm fine with moving the "OrgPOV" info, as long as it's fairly visible (as it is in this case) from the outset of the article. I had not considered impacts on search engines. When I see things in first person, I always am curious what the POV is, and that's why I located it near the top. Without it, it seems that the POV is Appropedia, which is misleading. --CurtB 15:48, 1 December 2006 (PST)

Renaming the article[edit source]

(The project page was originally named: "Rainwater harvest and purification", and has been moved to "Ersson rainwater harvest and purification") I am fine with the renaming of the article. It makes good sense as a project documentation title. On the other hand, I think it discourages modification. Why do I mention that? I'm thinking about situations where projects are documented in such a way that the article also makes an excellent "how to" page. I was considering making this project page into a "how to" as soon as we had resolved the policy of maintaining an "original" (invariant) page, along with an evolving page.

This question is not limited to this project, of course, so I'd like to see some discussion about a policy for leveraging project articles into "how tos". We could easily create a separate how-to page, based on the project original (or maybe multiple different project originals?), and this new how-to page would not be named the same way. Indeed, we could explicitly encourage modifications / alternatives / expansion from our readers.

Thoughts? --CurtB 15:48, 1 December 2006 (PST)

I feel that a goal of Appropedia, is having how tos that are birthed from projects. I envision these how tos being educated from various projects, then new projects, built based on the how to, being posted to Appropedia as project pages and as tweaks to the how to (for instance additional common errors to avoid). For instance:
The project page Ersson rainwater harvest and purification may be editted, but should retain its personal focus. A How To page How to harvest and purify rainwater in rich nations may be birthed from that project page, but the How To page should not be written in first person. Hopefully other Rainwater harvest and purification projects will be constructed based on the How To and relevant Project pages, then these new projects can be posted to Appropedia, e.g. Smiley house rainwater harvest and purification. These new project leads can also tweak the how to, based upon their experience.
Does that make sense? What do you think? --Lonny 17:52, 1 December 2006 (PST)
