Sustainablity: early education

For this project I designed a lesson plan and power point with the intention of educating young students about alternative energy systems and sustainable construction. The reason for this was because it is very important for children to be exposed to ideas of sustainability at a young age in order to ensure a better future.

This semester, for my alternative energy systems course, we are asked to design or create something. For my project, I wanted to educate middle school students about the importance of sustainability. I began by creating a power point with basic concepts of sustainable living, renewable energies and sustainable homes. Then, I designed a lesson plan detailing exactly what I would say to the children. Lastly, I asked the students to draw and design their ideal sustainable home including some of the things that I told them about. The project was successful and the kids were fired up about their designs.

Understanding the market

Sustainability needs to be incorporated into early education. As an adult, I had no idea that sustainability could be career focus or how much it could change my life. If my generation had learned more about sustainability at a young age, things could be different in the world today.

Project goals

The goal of this project is to improve the future of planet Earth and the lives of the global citizens. It will achieved through education.
