MediaWiki

MediaWiki is the wiki software^W that powers Appropedia, as well as Wikipedia, other Wikimedia Foundation^W projects, and many other wikis across the internet.

MediaWiki is written primarily in the PHP^W scripting language. A large number of extensions are available, which add more functions to a MediaWiki wiki. See Special:Version for the list of extensions currently installed on Appropedia.

MediaWiki is also a standard namespace^W prefix on all MediaWiki wikis by default, including Appropedia. The MediaWiki namespace contains pages that define many user interface elements. For example, MediaWiki:Common.css contains CSS^W style classes that control the appearance of many templates on Appropedia.

Only users who are administrators can edit pages in the MediaWiki namespace.
