It all started with me wanting to help other women, by writing a book about my experiences regarding premature births.

When I started to do research regarding this topic and saw that despite pregnancy apps, medical and technological advances, thousands of women globally were still giving birth prematurely. Women were still dying, while giving birth to live. A fire was kindled in me to do much more than write a book!

An idea for an early alert wristband was born for women in South Africa. Little did I know that after applying and being accepted into the EU Critical Making Mentorship Program, that this idea could benefit rural communities and women across the globe.

More and more people are coming on board. Mrs. Sonja Walker under the supervision of Dr. Tania de Villiers, Head of Midwifery at the University of Cape Town has made invaluable contributions regarding vital signs indicators, the messages that the moms will receive and the workbook.

The American Corner Coding and Maker space Team is assisting with media and still to be determined volunteer tasks. We are thankful to Sandra and the EU Critical Making Team and Mentors, fellow mentees, Wikifactory, Fazlin Safoodien, Anthea Wehr, Ashley Kannemeyer and so many more that are guiding and helping us to make this resource available for moms.

ps. Pictures will follow soon...
