Category talk:Renewable energy
Leaving this note here in the parent category rather than at Category talk:Biofuel because that page is protected. I think the info content of that page should be moved into the article namespace; categories should be used for categorization. A short summary could be left on the category page with a pointer to the main article. A person who goes to that category is going to be looking for navigation between pages, not info; they'd go to the article namespace for that. If they find a bunch of info on the category page, they're going to have to scroll past it to get to what they want. It wouldn't be sensible to create a category for each topic we wanted to write about, so having info on some category pages is going to be confusing and make navigating the wiki harder. Using the mediawiki software the way it was designed to be used will make things more intuitive for readers. Just my thoughts on the matter. Any objections to my moving this content to the article namespace? Delldot 09:20, 21 August 2008 (PDT)
- Hi Delldot,
- Thank you for your great additions so far. I think that there is general agreement, among many of the editors, with the content structure you suggest (and wikipedia uses). Please make the changes as you see fit. Currently there is the idea of using some templates at the top of category pages and using NameOfCategory_basics for the main article. See Category:Natural_paint for an example.
