The idea of the establishment of AT trade routes is to ensure the continuous supply of necessairy items to AT villages. Necessairy items are items that can not be created locally; ie items that are made using location-specific materials, or simply items that cannot be produced locally due to the absence of required facilities (ie AT factories, ...).
The trade routes may go overland, over water aswell as over the air.
