I'd like to see a focus on what works, with evidence. Something like Wikipedia:Evidence-based medicine.
AFAIK, chakras have no solid evidence, no scientific basis. While the practices associated with ancient wisdom is often valuable, it does not mean the theories are correct. E.g. the Chinese idea of internal fire was once a reason given for not drinking cold water, a wise practice when drinking unboiled water led to disease. The theory was wrong, but the practice was correct. Nowadays we focus on the good practice (water treatment) together with the scientific understanding (pathogens).
This seems to be the case with chakras as well - while meditation and yoga have positive effects, the underlying idea of chakras is not a scientific concept. If someone wants to have this belief as part of their spiritual practice, that's up to them, but I don't believe it belongs here.
I'm unsure about the rest of the content - hopefully someone with expertise can comment. --Chriswaterguy 05:26, 25 November 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]
