Sol (aka Set, Seth, or Sami) McJimsey is an undergraduate student at Cal Poly Humboldt! They are perusing a major in Energy System Engineering and minor in Mathematics with an estimated graduation date of Fall 2026. Before transferring to Humboldt in Spring 2024, he attended Sierra College (in Rocklin, CA) beginning in Fall 2020.
Currently, Sol is enrolled in mainly upper-level Engineering courses as a full-time student, as well as a Fellow in College Corps Cohort 3 (2024-2025 school year), with his primary site being UIHS Potawot Community Food Garden. In semesters when they have more time, they also participate in community work such as volunteer work (including Humboldt's Y.E.S. group in 2024) and school clubs (including taking leadership roles in his highschool Writing Club 2019-2020 and the Sierra College Physic and Engineering Club in Fall 2024). In the future, he hopes to integrate his community work with his Engineering education, and find a career path that uses Engineering skills to fight climate change and peruse human justice!
In xyr free time, Sol has many creative hobbies including drawing, storytelling, and crocheting! Xe hopes to be a life-long learner and especially enjoys learning new skills, history, and through media analysis and collaborative work. Xe also enjoys learning new languages, including Spanish, Japanese, and Toki Pona!
