I'm an undergraduate studying Mathematics and American Sign Language Interpreting at Western Oregon University (Honors Program, expected Dec 2027, GPA 3.94, Phi Kappa Phi - top 7.5% of juniors/seniors nationally).
My research background is in quantitative data analysis: as a research assistant at UC Davis, I collected and structured morphological measurements from X-ray and 3D bone scan data to publication-grade accuracy, co-authoring a paper published in the American Journal of Veterinary Research (2025). My coursework includes Independently studied Markov chain modeling in depth; strong foundation in linear algebra, differential equations, discrete mathematics, and proof-based reasoning.
I'm drawn to FAST's work because open-source appropriate technology treats knowledge itself as infrastructure for reducing poverty, which is a use of mathematics I find more compelling than most applied work I've seen. I don't yet have a background in solar hardware or open-source manufacturing specifically, but I bring strong data analysis, quality-control, and technical documentation skills, and I'm looking to build domain knowledge by contributing to real projects.
Skills: Excel (formulas/functions), LaTeX, quantitative modeling, data collection and QC, Mimics medical imaging software, conversational Spanish, fluent ASL.
