Biography[edit | edit source]

I just completed my senior year at Houghton High School and, will be attending Michigan Technological University in the Fall. For the past four years I have been on the Houghton High School's FIRST robotics team. In the past I have built and maintained 3D printers. I have experience with arduinos and other low cost processors. I have completed advanced classes in chemistry and Java programming. While in high school I completed two years of auto CAD and have used Solidworks. Two years of metal shop has given me experience with welding, turning and milling. I am very interested in green energy however, I have very little experience in the field.

FIRST Robotics[edit | edit source]

FIRST robotics is a high school robotics competition in which teams are given six weeks to design and build a robot to play a three vs. three game. The game changes every year and, this years game was about stacking totes. The robots weigh around one hundred and twenty pounds and, are made mostly out of aluminium. The processor we use on our robot is called the Roborio which is very arduino-like. Our team is the oldest team in the Upper Peninsula and, we have been preforming very well the last couple of years. The past two years we qualified to compete at the world championship in Saint Louis. I was a key member of the mechanical and design team my junior and senior year.

Other experiences and interests[edit | edit source]

I had the privilege to work with Mr. Norman to build a prusa 3D printer. During my study hall and metal shop I helped run and maintain the delta printers at the high school. I am a strong supporter of green energy and conserving the environment. I believe that open source technology is the fastest way for technology to grow and develop. The past few years I have been more involved with Habitat for Humanity. Mid July I will be going to the Detroit area to help build Habitat for Humanity houses.
