Academic Background
[edit | edit source]Haotian Li (preferred name: Jonathan) is a third-year undergraduate student in Western University specialized in Statistics. He was studying in Faculty of Engineering during his first year at Western, and he lately transferred to Statistics out of his interest in that major.
Research Interest
[edit | edit source]- Machine Learning
- Large Language Model and AI
- Robotics
Work Experience
[edit | edit source]During his previous summer employment at V-Sky in Shenzhen, China, Jonathan acquired hands-on experience in the assembly of mechanical components. He developed technical skills related to mechanical systems and contributed to optimizing product assembly processes. Additionally, he conducted studies and analysis of the mechanical structures of various products, such as webcams, to gain insights into their design and functionality.
Research Experience
[edit | edit source]In summer 2025, Jonathan joined Dr. Bing Li’s research group at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Western University. Jonathan’s research was focusing on rockfall mechanics and chaos theory. He developed custom computational models in MATLAB to collect and analyze experimental data, investigating rockfall behavior under varying environmental conditions. The research is currently in its final stages, with findings being prepared for publication
