Name: Joseph Zofrea I was born in Long Beach, California.Currently I am in my third year of classes at Cal Poly Humboldt. I am majoring in Environmental Science with an emphasis in environmental policy. In the future I would like to work with the National Park service or a environmental advocacy group and help manage our nations dwindling natural resources for future generations.

Interests in Technology and the Environment[edit | edit source]

GREEN ENERGY: specifically solar and hydrogen technologies currently in place and how these ideas can be applied world wide.

CRADLE TO CRADLE CONCEPT: Our world revolves around single use items and planned obsolescence. I'm interested in how we can change these practices while still maintaining economic growth. WATER PURIFICATION IN THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES:currently much of the world population does not have access to clean water and I always enjoy reading about how people are creating affordable and effective ways to counter act this.

Experience in Technology and/or the Environment[edit | edit source]

  1. I was a camp councilor at a summer camp in the Barton flats area for three years. While there I taught nature classes to Kids ranging from age 12 to 17. These classes covered environmental science, Soil science, geology, Herpetology, forestry, and many other biological focuses.
  2. I am an avid back packer/ hiker. I've been all over the US and parts of South America Back Packing and hiking wilderness areas.
  3. I enjoy making things and have dabbled in building solar panels and wind turbines although my lack of experience, time, and tools limits my abilities to do this often.
