Md Hafizur Rahman completed his BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), Bangladesh. He had served as a Lecturer(from February 2020 to February 2023) in the department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Eastern University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Since February 2023, he has served as an Assistant Engineer at Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC), Dhaka, Bangladesh. Currently, he is doing his MSc engineering in the department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Md Hafizur Rahman is currently doing his research with the Power Electronics research group under the supervision of Yeasir Arafat, Associate Professor, BUET, focusing on machine learning based power electronic system design for Electric Vehicle and Renewable Energy based power system.

Research Interest

Md Hafizur Rahman mainly focuses on the application of Power Semiconductor Device in Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station. In his MSc studies, he is doing his research on " Open circuit fault detection and classification of bidirectional Electric Vehicle charging station using machine learning (ML) algorithm" and " Output current ripple estimation of Electric Vehicle three phase charging station using machine learning algorithm (ML)". Moreover, in his undergraduate study, he was involved in step up converter design for the application in photo voltaic system. He designed a converter with Artificial Neural network (ANN) based MPPT technique to level the output of PV system to a specific level.

Assistant Engineer at Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd (DPDC) (February, 2023 to present)

Responsibilities:

  • Testing components such as transformers, lines, cables, switchgear, protection devices, and meters;
  • Conducting load flow study, short circuit analysis and cable size calculation based on fault analysis;
  • Applying standards and regulations for design and operation;
  • Evaluating and optimizing performance, reliability, security, efficiency, and economics.
