Background and Interests

[edit | edit source]

Current undergraduate student at the University of Western Ontario, studying towards a degree in Mechatronics Systems Engineering. I have strong interests in robotics, as well as the electrical and mechanical aspects that drive modern technology. I enjoy programming and working with hardware, and I’m always looking for opportunities to build new skills; especially in areas like 3D printing, hands-on design, and system integration.

I’m particularly interested in the role engineering can play in creating sustainable solutions. Whether it’s through developing efficient technologies, using renewable resources, or designing systems with long-term impact in mind, I’m passionate about contributing to a future where engineering supports both innovation and environmental responsibility. I’m eager to keep learning and to be part of meaningful work that pushes the field forward.

Skills and Experiences

[edit | edit source]

Last summer, I completed a co-op term as a laboratory technician at Master Builder Solutions, where I was responsible for conducting routine materials testing and supporting quality assurance processes. This role provided valuable hands-on experience with concrete mix design, compressive strength testing, and adherence to industry standards in a fast-paced industrial environment.

I returned to the same company for a second co-op term this summer, allowing me to take on greater responsibility and further develop my technical and problem-solving skills in a familiar setting. This continued experience has deepened my understanding of materials science, lab procedures, and the practical challenges involved in engineering for real-world applications.

In addition to my work experience, I hold a SolidWorks certification and have developed strong skills in 3D modeling and mechanical design. I also have experience with programming and electronics, and I’m consistently working to expand my capabilities across multiple areas of engineering.

Projects

[edit | edit source]

As part of a team project for my MSE2202: Mechatronics Design course, we developed an autonomous robot capable of collecting, sorting, and depositing pebbles based on color. The objective was to design a robot that could navigate a defined area, detect and pick up scattered pebbles, identify their color, retain only one specified colour, and return to a designated home base to deposit them into a bucket.

The robot was programmed using Arduino and integrated multiple sensors for object detection and color recognition. Its structure was custom-designed and assembled using 3D-printed components, which allowed us to create a lightweight robot and adhere to design restrictions. The project involved a combination of mechanical design, embedded programming, and iterative testing, and provided valuable experience in system integration and hands-on problem-solving.
