Interests in Appropriate Technology[edit | edit source]

I came out as a freshman student at Cal Poly Humboldt hungry to immerse myself in the forgotten arts of living and the 'better' lifestyle for responsible human beings. That's how I came across Appropriate Technology. So my interests are rather broad. I'm collecting all the knowledge I need for living comfortably off-the-gird and on my own, shall I ever choose to. And taking advantage of wasted energy all around us is of great interest to me as well. The recent boom in solar technology has me asking all sorts of questions and looking into answers, and the same goes for wind and hydro- energy sources. And I love learning about new crops to grow, new flavors and tricks of the green thumb. Basically, anything that cuts back on consumption and relates to natural systems, I am intrigued by.

Experience in Appropriate Technology[edit | edit source]

I have basic background knowledge in greywater systems, rain water catchment, solar system sizing, native biodynamic gardening, and energy auditing. I have experience first-hand in local organic farming, general cob building, and sewing your own thermal curtains. I am currently underway learning the art of pedal power system design and construction.
