Bio
[edit | edit source]Daniel Melendez is an aspiring professional engineer developing his knowledge of renewable energy systems as a student at California Polytechnic University: Humboldt through the university's Energy Systems Engineering degree program. His primary career goal is to develop and implement front-of-the-meter methods of electricity production that rely entirely on renewable sources of energy (i.e. photovoltaic arrays, nuclear fusion plants, offshore wind farms) for the purpose of phasing out coal, natural gas, and fossil-fuel-based power plants.
Daniel has gained experience in teambuilding, public relations, and leadership positions as captain of The Iron Patriots robotics team's Strategy subteam. As a member of the F.I.R.S.T. community, he developed skills in Computer-aided Design (CAD), 3D printing, 3D printer management, and soldering to aid his team in whatever ways possible.
