I am a student at HSU in the ERE program. I was born and raised here in Humboldt County and lived on five acres of redwoods till I was about 13 years old. Spending time in the redwoods every day as a child I grew to love nature and all that it does for us. I was taught to tread lightly and avoid crushing bugs, plants, and all living things that often go unnoticed. This, I think, is in part what inspired me to take up environmental engineering. So I could help preserve areas like my childhood home for the future and for other little girls who, at three years old, might have the desire to climb a redwood in her best dress.
