I, Deepak C N, am currently pursuing a doctoral degree with a research focus on solar thermal devices, where we develop efficient and sustainable energy solutions https://vit.ac.in/smec. My research involves design, development, synthesis and characterization of novel organic thermal energy storage materials that are suitable for low temperature solar thermal applications. My passion for sustainable energy technologies has been a driving force throughout my academic journey, shaping my commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions that align with global sustainability goals.


Research Interests

My research primarily focuses on exploring and utilizing renwable energy in real life applications resulting in sustainable solutions. I have worked towards design and development of solar thermal devices including solar dryers, solar collectors and concentrators, which could successfully capture and utilize thermal energy. Addressing their nocturnal and fluctuating nature, my work also explored the possibilities of energy storage and successfully worked toward thermal energy storate materials and their implementation. Central to my research is the recognition that engineering is not just about technical knowledge, but also about learning responsible, ethical, and compassionate problem-solving skills while being empathetic enough to acknowledge and address the pressing challenges of our time, from a social perspective. I encourage myself to view engineering as a tool for societal good, with an emphasis on designing solutions that are equitable, accessible, and beneficial for all people, especially those who have been historically marginalized. I integrate sustainability into my research by challenging myself to consider the environmental, social, and economic impacts of my works. I intend to think beyond the immediate technological solutions and understand the broader implications of my work on people, communities, and ecosystems.
