Hello! I am Anurag Upadhyay, Graduate Student, Department of Electrical and Computer Science Engineering, Michigan Tech. I completed my undergraduate studies from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad. I finished my college with a Cumulative Performance Index of 9.1 on the scale of 10 and stood 2nd. I am passionate about electrical engineering and would love to work in the field of renewable sources of energy.

- Developed a Python script to perform the conversion.

Objective: To tests the cascading conditions in N-1-1 Contingencies
- Developed a VB script to test cascading events as per NERC reliability standards.

Objective: Perform environmental testing of HEP magnetic components
EMI noise reduction
Objective: Noise reduction to prevent inadvertent firing of crowbar circuits
- Developed engineering test order and accomplished the test on the locomotive
- Implemented fiber-optic modification on the locomotive

Fault location in transmission lines using travelling waves[edit | edit source]
- Simulated different types of fault in ATPDraw v5.6.
- Analyzed the waveforms with wavelet transformation and determined the fault location.
- Accuracy of the method was tested with impedance based method using SEL-311L relay.
Switching Over-voltages in Transmission Lines[edit | edit source]
- Developed a test system to study over-voltages under different switching events.
- Modeled surge arrestor for mitigation of over-voltage using ATP-Draw v 5.6.
DC microgrid[edit | edit source]
- Developed a mathematical model for DC microgrid using WOLFRAM System Modeler.
- Implemented droop control to achieve load sharing.
- Designed a PI- controller to maintain constant DC bus voltage.
Electricity Market in Price based Demand Response[edit | edit source]
- Simulated price elasticity characteristics of different demand response customers.
- Developed a MATLAB code to obtain market clearing price from the economic dispatch problem.
Design of maximum power point tracking controller for Solar PV Module[edit | edit source]
- Created a mathematical model for Solar PV module in PSCAD/EMTDC software.
- Designed a hill-top algorithm based controller to track maximum power point of solar PV module.
- Developed a hardware to verify the results.

Assistant Manager, Reliance Power Ltd, India, 2011-2014
Worked towards planning and maintenance of AC Drives Electric Rope Shovels and 240 Ton Capacity Dump Trucks to achieve the peak production target of 20MTPA at India’s biggest captive coal mine- Moher &Moher Amlohri Extension Open Cast Project.
- Supervised maintenance and troubleshooting of Mining equipment.
- Oversaw Erection, Testing and commissioning of electric drives based shovel.
- Performed testing of Transformers, CT, PT, Motors, Relays and Circuit breakers.
- Installed and programmed Numerical relays such as REF-615, REF-610, SPAM 150C, SPAJ-140C and GE- Multilin-369.
