Mr Advait Gandhe BSc MB BS FRCS(T&O).

My goal is to change the way we deliver surgical education.  I am a consultant at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, UK, specialising in Hip, Knee and Trauma Surgery. In 2010, I was nominated for Hospital Doctor of the Year.  I am also an entrepreneur, innovator and developer in the sphere of mobile technology and I combine my skills in these fields to achieve that goal.

I trained in London UK as a medical student and junior doctor.  I subsequently undertook my specialist training in orthopaedic surgery in Oxford, UK and was appointed orthopaedic consultant surgeon at Portsmouth Hospitals University Trust, UK. I co-led the hip fracture unit with my ortho-geriatric colleague which remained consistently in the top 5% of the country in terms of best practice and moved on to become the trauma clinical director for the Portsmouth Hospital trauma unit in 2018.  This was particularly challenging during the 2020 pandemic.

Shortly after being appointed consultant, I was awarded Wessex regional trainer of the year.  I am educational supervisor to many trainees in Portsmouth and have regular involvement in the regional training program.

I have been on the faculty for many national and international courses in Trauma, orthopaedics and advanced trauma Life support. Currently I am on the AO international and UK faculty.  I have recently been awarded senior lecturer at Portsmouth University, UK.

On the tech side, I founded Digital Surgery Ltd in 2011 which has become a globally successful company whose goal is to deliver high quality, accessible and innovative education for the surgical community. I conceived and produced our flagship app – 'Touch Surgery' which has engaged over 2.5 million members and led to the successful sale of the company to Medtronic LTD in 2020.

I am the CEO and Founder of AMODISC Ltd which is a software company that develops medical training software and animations, facilitating trainers to deliver their craft. We are developing a suite of applications to help multiple specialties using multiple modalities. I am the Chairman and co-founder of Limbic Health Ltd which is a  research driven software company that develops healthcare solutions for clinicians using novel technologies including AI and Image recognition.

Much of what I do and teach involves a large degree of creativity and publication.  I developed my skills further and in 2020, and I successfully passed an on-line diploma in Graphic Design.
