Template:TissueDB proposed swap notice
{{TissueDB proposed swap notice}} places a banner on a TissueDB material page stating that the material has been proposed as a substitute for another material but has not yet been validated by a pilot. It is part of the TissueDB project.
The notice exists to keep a proposal visibly distinct from a confirmed swap. A material swap only becomes official once a pilot has been run and a TissueDB Developer confirms it; until then the substitution is provisional, and this banner says so on the page itself rather than only in a tracking document.
Usage
[edit source]Place the template at the top of the material page, above the Layout call.
{{TissueDB proposed swap notice|swap_for=[[TissueDB/Materials/Gelatin Mix|Gelatin]]}}
Parameters
[edit source]| Parameter | Description | Source |
|---|---|---|
| swap_for | The material this one is proposed to substitute for. Pass a wiki link, not bare text, so the reader can reach the other page. Defaults to the words "another material" when unset — always set it. | Convention |
Behaviour
[edit source]- Renders via {{Notice}} with the standard warning icon.
- Adds the page to Category:TissueDB proposed material swaps on transclusion. The category is applied by the template — the page does not need to add it.
Content Rules
[edit source]- A proposed swap is not a swap. Do not record the substitution in the material swap registry, or state it as settled anywhere on the page, until a pilot has been run and a TissueDB Developer has confirmed it.
- Always set
swap_forwith a wiki link. The unset default reads "another material", which tells the reader nothing. - Remove the notice when the swap is confirmed or rejected, and update the swap registry in the same edit. A stale provisional banner is worse than none, because readers stop trusting the banner.

[edit source]For the current list, see Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:TissueDB proposed swap notice. Do not write the list here by hand. The list written on 19 July 2026 named three pages, and one of them was deleted on 27 July 2026, so the list was wrong and one of its links was broken.
