Template:TissueDB Simulator

From Appropedia
Template documentationedit documentation

This is the original TissueDB Simulator template documentation. It is part of the TissueDB project.

Note: New Pages Should Use Simulator Skeleton

[edit source]

New simulator pages should use the Simulator Skeleton template instead. This template is maintained for backward compatibility during the migration from the original template to the newer Skeleton version.

Pages created before the Skeleton template was introduced may continue to use this template. Pages will be gradually migrated to the Skeleton template.

Content Rules for This Template

[edit source]
  • Simulator names are generic and clinical, not brand-specific. Use "Laparoscopic Appendectomy Trainer" not "Stryker VR Appendectomy Pod." Brand information belongs in the page body only.
  • Tissues table: Simulated Tissue column MUST link to TissueDB/Tissues/ pages. Every tissue simulated must have a wiki link. Example: [[TissueDB/Tissues/Peritoneum]]. If a Tissues page does not exist, create a stub page first.
  • Structural Parts table contains construction and assembly items ONLY. Examples: PVC pipe framing, wood base, rubber bands for fixation, suture material for construction, foam padding, cable ties. These do NOT link to pages—they appear as plain text.
  • Tissues vs Structural Parts: Use this test: "Does this item simulate a specific named anatomical tissue that a surgeon would encounter during the procedure?" YES → Tissues table. NO → Structural Parts table. Bodily fluids (blood, bile) are TISSUES. Filling materials (cotton for bulk) are Structural Parts.
  • Build Instructions must include numbered steps using format "Step N: [action]" within each === Phase N === subsection. Example: "=== Phase 1: Preparation === Step 1: Assemble base... Step 2: Attach organs..."
  • Build instruction steps require "before" and "after" verification checkpoints. Each step should include what to check to confirm success. Example: "Step 3: Secure fascia with sutures. Verify: layer should not shift when pulled with forceps."
  • NO fabricated content or AI-generated ratings. All content must be traceable to source documentation (project PDFs, expert review, or published curricula). Do not add Quality Verification, Validation Status, or Antiskills sections unless source-traced.
  • Usage instructions (Quick Start, Getting Started, operation, setup) MUST NOT appear on BUILD pages. Usage content belongs in SELF Modules. Semantic test: if it uses the word "use" rather than "build," it belongs in a Module.
  • Visual/Tactile columns use only: Yes, Partial, No. Do not create rating scales or numeric scores.
  • All quantities, dimensions, and costs must be specified. Use metric-first format: "X cm (Y in)" for metric measurements. Original units acceptable on simulator pages (with metric conversion added).
  • Hero image should show the simulator in clinical use context. Images must be CC-BY-SA 4.0 licensed. Wikimedia Commons is the preferred source.
  • No internal codes on published pages. Remove all codes before publishing. Write rules in plain English.
  • {{Page data}} and {{Simulator data}} templates are added at page level, not inside this template (Platform convention).

Migration Path

[edit source]

For new simulator page creation, use the Simulator Skeleton template.
