Figure 2 from Heo K, Greaney E, Haehl J, Stunden C, Lindner A, Malik PRA, Rosenbaum DG, Muensterer O, Zakani S, Jacob J, Joharifard S. "Iterative Design and Manufacturing of a 3D-Printed Pediatric Open and Laparoscopic Integrated Simulator for Hernia Repair (POLISHeR)." Journal of Pediatric Surgery 2025;60:162232. DOI: 10.1016/j.jpedsurg.2025.162232. PMID: 40011165.
Three-panel photograph of the POLISHeR life-size unisex base, used as the hero image for Pediatric Inguinal Hernia Repair Simulator (Heo). Left: the base without cartridges. Centre: the base with the laparoscopic and open cartridges inserted. Right: the base seen from inside with the anterior abdominal wall lifted, labelling the peritoneum, epigastric artery and vein, femoral artery and vein, aorta, vena cava, hemi-pelvis, vertebrae and retroperitoneum. The camera and instrument ports, the pubic tubercles and the cartridge openings are labelled in the first two panels.
Licence, verbatim from the source. The article states: "© 2025 The Author(s). Published by Elsevier Inc. This is an open access article under the CC BY-NC license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/)." The figure carries no separate third-party credit line, so it is covered by the article licence.
Note on the non-commercial term. CC BY-NC is not compatible with Appropedia's CC BY-SA content licence, in that it limits the onward reusability of the page carrying it. Per the Appropedia Foundation ruling of 13 April 2026 (Emilio Velis: "we accept using this license sparingly, especially for content reuse"), the image is used here with its true licence recorded rather than replaced. `Template:License` has no token for CC BY-NC 4.0, so the value below prints verbatim rather than as a link — that is correct, and an approximate token must not be substituted for it.
Provenance. Extracted at native resolution (1541 × 461, no upscaling) from the publisher PDF held at working/S596_RCSI_PDFS/29.pdf (page 4, image xref 24) with scripts/extract_pdf_figure.py, converted to sRGB and saved as JPEG q95.
