Pedro Amaya es un agricultor del cantón Belén, en Caserío La Joya, municipio de Ciudad Barrios, San Miguel. Ha implementado diversas prácticas agrícolas innovadoras, como dejar los rastrojos, utilizar forraje y otros materiales orgánicos como capa para conservar la humedad del suelo, arar en curvas de nivel, realizar análisis de suelo y adoptar nuevas formas de siembra y aplicación de fertilizantes, lo que les ha permitido sobrevivir a la sequía que afecta su temporada normal de lluvias.
