Content requests[edit source]
I see the Suggested projects template and category as being mainly for quite specific things such as research questions or the "Specific Design Requests" - e.g. a new drying mechanism for rice, a Machine for removal of grain from a seed stalk, an improved Universal Nut Sheller.W
General topics, writing up existing info, (e.g. Sickle, Drilling tools, Treadle pump) seem to me like a different issue, to be put on another page (currently the neglected Appropedia talk:Request, which I'll link from here).
Now, I haven't quite been doing this - I've been using the {{sp}} tag to request not only research and design work, but also basic info hunting work. We probably want a different tag for that, e.g. {{rc}}, to add pages to a new cat, Category:Requested content.
How does that sound? --Chriswaterguy 01:42, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Seperating research and design projects sounds like a really good idea. Would Category:Requested content serve as the former and Category:Suggested projects serve as the latter?
- Are you advocating any specific change?
- --David.reber 19:01, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Re the category names - yes, I think that would work well.
- Specific changes? Just the application of that split, so topic pages requests would disappear from here to
Category:Suggested projects(oops) Category:Requested content. (Have I understood your question?) --Chriswaterguy 19:41, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

- yes, you understood my question
- applying the split is officially on my to do list (unless someone else does it before I get to it - which would give me nothing but joy)
- I like this ":" threading - I bet it gets really interesting by the time you are on your 10th reply --David.reber 19:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Subcategories[edit source]
Why are the articles presented as subcategories? Is it possible to change the template to simply list the pages as articles? --David.reber
- If the tag is on a category page, the category becomes a subcategory.
- The only solution I can think of is to move such content off category pages. There are a few issues with this - my latest idea is at Appropedia:Topic categories #Topic template for every category page. --Chriswaterguy 19:41, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
