About Me
Sam Murphy I'm an environmental science major emphasizing in climate and energy and minoring in journalism. My hobbies include stand-up, film-making, and running.
Interests in Appropriate Technology
My ultimate goal is to design and construct a product capable of positively effecting somebody's day, even if it just means dehumidifying their work space.
My hope is that I can successfully conceptualize and build a dehumidifier from recycled or sustainable materials easily accessible to a rural community.
Experience in Appropriate Technology
I have four semesters of experience in a hard science lab setting from general chemistry and general physics. At the very minimum this experience provides me with a general understanding of how to address the challenges specific to my task like finding the most efficient material for absorbing and retaining water.
I enjoy independent research so I can see myself becoming highly invested in this course as my primary priority for the semester.
