About Me

Name: Alison Morse

I am a Studio Art major at Humboldt State University with a side-interest in Appropriate Technology.

Interests in Technology and the Environment

  • Natural Building
  • The ability to consume local food, whether it be through access to equipment for harvest and preparation, or the knowledge of how to do so in a society where so much of what we eat is collected and redistributed by unfathomably large companies.
  • Self-contained food production systems, like aquaponics or vertical growing towers.

Experience in Technology and/or the Environment

  • In 2009 I was part of a collaboration to design and construct a small-scale aquaponics system (hydroponics using fish poop for the nutrient source). To this day in 2010, we are still working on achieving the careful balance this system needs to function at its fullest capacity.
  • The summer of 2008 I designed and built a permaculture garden in my backyard.
