Problem being addressed

An estimated 6-10% of all newborn mortality is due to jaundice or jaundice complications. In Africa and South Asia, 5.7 million newborns do not have accessibility to phototherapy devices to treat jaundice.

Detailed description of the solution

Firefly utilizes high-intensity double-sided blue LED light. It is made up of a small bassinet with the LED lamp positioned above. The device is meant to function in the mother’s recovery room to reduce hospital staff workload and in-hospital breastfeeding.
