What I have learned?

When I first heard the term/subject "Empowerment technologies," I assumed it was similar to our regular computer or ICT class in junior high. But, as I write this approaching the end of our first semester, I can say that it is far more than the ICT subjects and classes I've had in the past. Empowerment technologies provided me with a better understanding of ICT. I recall the first lesson we had on this topic when we tackled the differences between IT and ICT. I've always believed these two were similar, but they're not. ICT is much larger than IT. Aside from that, I also learned how to edit a video in Canva. Yes, a video. IN CANVA. I was amazed to learn that Canva can also be used to edit videos. I mean, I've been using Canva for years, and I only recently discovered that you can also edit videos here, if not because of this subject and the task that was assigned to us. These days, technology is rapidly advancing.

However, AI is AI. There are benefits and drawbacks. AI is not safe. In this day and age, where most of us rely on artificial intelligence and technology, I can say that even I, as a student and a person, who relies on technology, the consequences of the disadvantages are significantly more dangerous than you think. People are bullied online using technology or the internet, which is known as cyberbullying. They are hacked and even scammed. This is why it is so important to understand about online safety, ethics, and etiquette, all of which are taught in this subject. I learned about several ways to keep myself safe when using technology--especially when using social media. I learned that yes, modern technologies can be beneficial to us. It's amazing. It's exciting, but only in moderation. Now is a good moment to live because we have access to all knowledge at the tip of our fingertips. We can be anyone we want to be and do whatever we want with technology. But with great power comes a big responsibility. I do believe that with using technology, you must also be responsible for how you use it. Always remember to think before you click.

Furthermore, I also learned how to do hyperlinking which can be used and advantageous when making presentations as a student or even in making presentations on work force. With the activity about hyperlinking that was given to us, I enjoyed exploring different ways to hyperlink. I was even surprised by the fact that you can use hyperlinking to make amazing transitions in Microsoft PowerPoint. Just like what we did in our report where we used hyperlinks.

Moreover, this topic taught me how to use Excel. We were taught many formulas for various purposes, and I believe that these things will be useful in the future, particularly when I enter the workforce. Lastly, my favorite of all the activities we did this semester was the typing test. In this subject, I learned the technique for typing quickly. The goal is to position and use each finger on the keyboard correctly. That concludes my academic learning.

Now, on to my moral learnings; this subject taught me not just how to use technologies and other tools, but also how to be wise and cautious when using technology, particularly social media. Nowadays, people like to exploit social media or technology to start an argument or harm someone's reputation, which is completely wrong and unethical.

We are so focused on the fact that technology provides us with so many opportunities and benefits that we forget about the ramifications that we may face if we utilize it incorrectly.

In summary, this subject taught me a lot, both academically and emotionally. From learning about ICT and being amazed at how it has evolved over time, to the various uses of Canva, where I can now edit a video, to online safety and security, which includes both the advantages and disadvantages of technology, to how to use excel and solve something using a formula in one click, and finally, the typing test, where I had a lot of fun despite the time limitations.

So far, that's all I've learned this semester. I'm hoping for additional information and teachings on the following topics and lessons.
