Md Saimum Hossain, CFA

Currently an MBA student at the Ivey Business School under Western, Saimum has a career track record of about ten years across industries in diverse capacities. An entrepreneur himself who had successfully started and ran 3 companies in industries in nascent stage of development, and provided consulting to 22 more, Saimum has almost a decade of hands-on experience of working with early-stage businesses, most of them technology-enabled/oriented in different capacities. In 2018, he launched a national tech-based platform for one-stop digital solutions for SMEs. He won a research grant in 2019 from SME Foundation in Bangladesh to analyze and write case studies on successful Bangladeshi SMEs and their business models.

He is particularly well-versed in building financial models to assess the financial viability of new technologies, building presentation decks for different types of audiences, decision analysis, financial management process development, organizational structure development, and marketing communication plans development. He has invested in and worked with early-stage businesses in the capacity of a consultant for more than six years. He has been heavily trained by venture capitalists, business coaches and investment management professionals from the USA, Malaysia, and India.

Apart from his corporate and entrepreneurial track records, he is also an academician and currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Finance, University of Dhaka where his focus area is entrepreneurship and business project development, investment management, business planning, and strategy making.

He is a charterholder from the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute, USA and a member of the CFA Society’s Bangladesh chapter, a globally accredited professional body of investment management professionals. In addition to these professional credentials, he also holds one Master’s degree in Marketing from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, and one Master’s degree in Finance from the Department of Finance, University of Dhaka.
