My name is Noah Mierau, I am currently a Freshman at Cal Poly Humboldt, formerly Humboldt State University, and am currently studying Environmental Engineering, however, plan to major in Mechanical Engineering.
Some of my academic interests are Mechanical Engineering as a whole, I like the idea of working with mechanical systems, from the design stages to testing. This aligns with one of my major skills, which is developing and fabricating designs, and general hands-on work regarding engineered systems. I have a lot of experience with this from high school and my own time. The mathematics behind engineering is also an interest of mine, the idea of using math to predict the outcome of a prototype or prove that a prototype will function as intended is fascinating to me, and is something will most likely study more in-depth in the coming years. Material chemistry is an interest of mine as well, as materials play a fundamental role in the function of an engineered design. Out of all of these, I am most interested in the design process pertaining to engineering, such as the principles of design, creating designs using design software, and the brainstorming that comes with the design stage of the engineering process.
I hope to become a valuable member of the Appropedia community and contribute my designs for the benefit of others using this site.
