Me...just standing there.

Name: Jacob McGraw

I'm a senior at Cal Poly Humboldt working on a degree in Environmental Science with a concentration in wilderness conservation; I am also working on a minor in Wildlife. I grew up in the Napa Valley northeast of San Francisco. My favorite activities include backpacking, hiking, jogging, traveling, working with animals, exploring, reading, and pretty much any activity that involves the outdoors or food. My goals and interests fall into two main cateogories:

  1. How to improve the quality of life for ourselves, the other people of the world (yes, all 6.78 billion of them), and all of the people who will come after us.
  2. How to preserve biodiversity on a local and global scale.

Interests in Technology and the Environment[edit | edit source]

  1. How can advances in technology (such as "alternative" energy sources) help us to achieve both of the above goals?
  2. I would like to better understand the effects that different forms of energy extraction have on the environment.
  3. How can changes in peoples' day to day lives help to protect the environment?

Experience in Technology and/or the Environment[edit | edit source]

  1. I have lots of recreational experience interacting with the environment.
  2. I've worked in wildlife rescue operations and helped with habitat restoration.
  3. Moderate knowledge of technology from classes at HSU and just living in a society full of interesting technologies.

Hi Jacob M,

Welcome to the Appropedia wiki. Please make yourself at home! If you need a general wiki-tutorial, see the main help page (or the more in-depth one on WikiEducator).

Check your preferences and be sure you verify your email address and turn on email notification if you'd like it -- you can find out when your talk page, or any page on your watchlist, is modified. You may want to upload a photo or information about yourself to your userpage (which is at https://www.appropedia.org/User:Jacob_M).

If you have a particular interest or project in mind, go ahead and start it! If you have questions or suggestions, the best place to leave them is at the Village pump - you should get a fast response. Or, feel free to leave me a note on my talk page if you have further questions, need help finding your way around, have a cool idea for a project, or just want to chat.

Glad to have you here!
