I am a recent Cal Poly Humboldt Graduate of Environmental Science - Technology and Climate option. I'm 24 years old, ready to start getting field experience in Appropriate Tech. I enjoy music, studying medicine and the universe, hiking, cooking, and being outdoors, but most of all working towards manifesting a better planet for all to live on.

Interests in Appropriate Technology[edit | edit source]

  • Practical applications include Rainwater Catchment and Bottom of the Pyramid design, and the new Humdinger Windbelt technology. Also permaculture, organic agriculture, chickens.
  • On a philosophical level, Biomimicry, Solar tech, Synergy, Bucky fuller, design, and many other things.

Experience in Appropriate Technology[edit | edit source]

  • In 2006, I had the opportunity to visit [Estancia Ranquilco], a permaculture ranch located in the Andean Cordillera of Argentina. Their elegant use of microhyrdo power, channeled water for household uses, and indigenous building materials so inspired me to invest my life/time in learning these new/old technologies that hold the potential to improve peoples lives and preserve the natural.
  • Co-created on a Papasan Chair Solar Cooker from mostly salvaged materials with Bart Orlando in 2008.
  • Earned a degree in Environmental Science - Technology and Climate option in 2010.
  • Raised chickens organically in my backyard, volunteered on various organic farms for the last few years.

Welcome[edit source]

Hi Evolution number 9,

Welcome to Appropedia. Please make yourself at home! If you need help, please check out the Help pages or leave me a message on my talk page.

Check your preferences and be sure you verify your email address and turn on email notification if you'd like it -- you can find out when your talk page, or any page on your watchlist, is modified. This week you should submit some information about yourself to your userpage and upload a photo as well.

Feel free to leave me a note on my talk page if you have further questions, need help finding your way around or on your project. Check out some of the other Engr305 projects. If you want to try different types of mediawiki formating, feel free to muck around in the 305 sandbox. Most importantly remember to be BOLD in your edits to pages. Others will come along and help out.

Good luck on your project, --Lonny

Hi[edit source]

Hi, Evolution number 9. I'm new to the Appropedia. I'm not associated with CCAT or Cal Poly Humboldt.

I've been doing "WikiGnome" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiGnome ) work here - making links, starting stubs, fixing spelling, etc.

If you see anything that needs that sort of thing, please feel free to mention it to me, and also to mention this to the other folks at CCAT if there's anything that they'd like to me to fix up. -- Writtenonsand 21:20, 20 February 2008 (PST)
