Atrin Shahrokh is currently studying Electrical Engineering at Western University. From a young age, Atrin has developed a strong passion for electronics, coding, robotics, and astronomy. His early interest in robotics culminated during his high school years, where he was an integral member of the robotics club. There, Atrin not only assembled intricate robots but also honed his skills in using AutoCAD, employing the software to design innovative robot components that showcased his blend of creativity and technical prowess.
While his affinity for robotics was evident, Atrin's knack for coding and IT became pronounced when he served on the UES council as the IT technician. Taking on the substantial responsibility, he revamped and recoded the UES website, enhancing its user interface and functionality. This feat underscored his dedication to applying his technical knowledge in real-world scenarios, ensuring his peers and faculty had an optimal digital platform for their engineering pursuits.
Project #1: HoopNet[edit | edit source]
Urban Roots, a London-based urban farm, was seeking a solution to automate their pre-existing humidity control systems in their hoop houses. Initially, the project brief was to accurately measure indoor humidity levels and activate the temperature and humidity control system to increase winter crop yields. However, after a client meeting with Ben, our contact from Urban Roots, it was clarified that the main priority was to save on labour costs rather than increase crop yields. As a result, the refined objective was to develop a way to automatically and manually control the pre-existing hoop house lift-sides and fans to eliminate the need for manual attendance. This project also involves developing a way to connect the digital sensor and control system to their existing equipment, and potentially exploring the option of an internet-connected system.

Project #2: Clinic Website[edit | edit source]
As a beginner in web development, I was tasked with building a website for a physiotherapy clinic using only HTML. Despite having no prior experience in building a website, I took on the challenge and learned a lot throughout the process. As I coded the website, I researched different HTML tags, learned how to structure a webpage, and experimented with different styles and layouts. I encountered several challenges, such as figuring out how to create a responsive design that would work on different screen sizes, but I persevered and was able to overcome them with the help of online resources and tutorials. Overall, building the website for the physiotherapy clinic was a valuable learning experience that helped me improve my coding skills and gain confidence in my ability to tackle new challenges.
To create the physiotherapy website, I used a variety of HTML and other coding techniques to design a visually appealing and user-friendly website. I included pictures and videos to showcase the clinic's facilities and services, and used HTML to format the layout of the website with tabs to make navigation easy for visitors. I also incorporated articles and blog posts to provide valuable information about physiotherapy and related health topics. Additionally, I utilized CSS to style the website and make it responsive across different devices, improving the user experience for both desktop and mobile users. Through this process, I was able to learn and apply a wide range of coding techniques to create a fully functional and professional-looking website for the physiotherapy clinic.
