Most Dogs are wonderful pets.

This article is about working dogs.

The Dog is not called Man's best friend because it's cute.

It earned that title after centuries of working side by side living and dying with humans.

The first Dogs raised by humans were likely cared for because of their ability to sense approaching predators and raise the alarm made them a priceless ally.

Since then dogs have been bred and trained for Herding, Sled pulling, Hunting, Guarding, and Tracking.

Make no mistake pugs are not going to pull sleds and pitbulls are not going to guard sheep.

If you want a working dog the best thing to do is select a breed known for being good at the job you want him to do and get a professional to train the dog or help you train the dog.
