Schematic showing how the piston engine works. Since the the version with the piston isn't optimal, I'm just leaving this in place for now as an example system. Perhaps that we can return to this once we finished our more important projects. I have some ideas on how we could improve it; ie by using a 3-cylinder radial engine, and using the valve gear to switch the next piston on/off (see http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/index.php?topic=7394.0 , http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=15deafcd5b4a5ede98b8c800ae001b66&prevstart=36 for a radial engine.
