This is to help keep track of our efforts to clean up the many images on Appropedia which don't have clear permission statements.
Add {{copyvio|reason}} where the violation is clear and it needs to be deleted. More ambiguous or complex tasks can be tracked below.
Files to deal with:
- These files are supposedly "by permission". Probably not under our license though. I've emailed the uploader with a request for details. --Chriswaterguy 19:34, 26 February 2011 (PST)
- Practical Action doesn't own the copyrights to all images in its technical briefs - Category:PATB. This is going to require cooperation from them to sort out which is which. No easy answer, I think (other than deleting all PA's images, which would be a shame). Step 1: See if we can find any info on the source of images in particular tech briefs. --Chriswaterguy 19:34, 26 February 2011 (PST)
Avoiding the problem[edit | edit source]
- Make MediaWiki:Uploadtext even more emphatic? (Note some wikis such as Mediawiki.org have large, bold red text - obviously a simple warning is not effective enough.)
- Set up the upload page more like Wikimedia Commons.
