Very simple version[edit source]

I think three sisters agriculture looks like a very simple food forest, with "trees" (corn) climbers and groundcover. Just an interesting similarity. --Chriswaterguy 08:12, 1 March 2011 (PST)

Which term is better?[edit source]

I've been wondering for awhile now whether the term "food forest" or "forest garden" is preferable. As far as which is better to use on Appropedia I'm totally undecided. Thoughts? --Ethan (talk) 18:16, 10 October 2015 (PDT)

Hi Ethan, Some authors have expressed a preference for the term "Forest Gardening" because part of the generated produce can be non edible. I personally prefer that term too, but I think the article on Appropedia should potentially just use whatever term is in most common use. Moribund (talk) 16:33, 6 April 2019 (PDT)
On a similar note, some even think that "we should be talking about woodland edge gardens".[1] as mature forest will not have enough light hitting the layers beneath the canopy later to be most productive. Martin Crawford also stresses that forest gardening should be aiming to mimic young woodland. Moribund (talk) 16:33, 6 April 2019 (PDT)
