Solomon Homicz, HSU Environmental Resource Engineering Student[edit | edit source]
My name is Solomon Homicz, I transferred to Cal Poly Humboldt from Shasta College in Redding CA. I live in Junction City, near Weaverville with my wife Audra, my son James and my daughter Mary. I was born on a small ranch in southern Trinity County near Zenia, CA. I had worked in the timber industry for nearly twenty years before deciding to return to college in 2004. I signed up for a water treatment class in Shasta College taught by Tom Warnock, Principal Engineer at Pace Civil Engineering in Redding and a HSU alumni. He is the one who inspired me to pick a major in engineering, specifically water resources at HSU. I added 15 units of water and wastewater treatment classes to my course load and now hold California State Drinking Water Grade 2 Water Treatment and Grade 1 Water Distribution licenses. I work for the Weaverville Community Service District as a water treatment operator when I am not in school.
