HOMER Pro is a heavily used microgrid energy simulation software.

In the studies such as Economic viability of captive off-grid solar photovoltaic and diesel hybrid energy systems for the Nigerian private sector and HOMER was mainly used for systems modelling and obtaining simulation results. The software is designed with capacity to model a combination of traditionally generated and renewable energy power systems, including storage systems and load management. It considers systems complexities and builds the most cost-effective solutions in optimization with predefined input variables. The software also has capacity to simulate thousands of comparable systems depending how it is setup.
