Travis Durgan is an undergraduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

Biography

I am an undergraduate Electrical Engineering student at Michigan Technological University (MTU) with a minor in International Spanish. I plan to focus my elective studies on power courses, and I want my future work to be in power, renewable energies, and sustainable development.

Currently I am working with the MTU chapter of Engineers Without Borders as team lead for the chapter´s water distribution project in La Esperanza, Panama. The project with La Esperanza has the goal of supplying the community with a reliable potable water source with available taps throughout the community. Another large aspect of the project is encouraging the formation of a local water coalition and educating the community on the new distribution system so that it can by monitored and maintained by members of La Esperanza for future generations.

Future projects include joining the MTU Alternative Energy Enterprise with the goal of working with the team involved in the Sustainability House. I am also currently applying for an Undergraduate Reasearch Assistant position with Dr. Joshua Pearce´s Michigan Tech´s Open Sustainability Technology (MOST) Research Group.
