I am a 3rd year student at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston working towards my Bachelors degree in Architecture. I am concentrating in Form and Culture which focuses on the artistic and social reactions between architecture and society. I have been playing the cello my entire life and now play with my college orchestra and the Boston Civic Symphony. When not at school I am home in the Adirondacks of upstate New York where I hike, bike and ski (X-country and downhill). I love to travel and between traveling as much as I can during breaks from school (recently back from a trip to India) I am heading off to Berlin next fall for a semester abroad.

Experience

Last summer I spent three months at Solheimar, an alternative community, in Selfoss Iceland as a Sustainable Design Intern. Along with my intern group, I designed an Energy Park for the community to display the different types of sustainable energy sources they utilized. I researched extensively and created presentations for an exhibition on Biomimicry, Strawbale building construction and Turf house construction. Working with a local farmer in Selfoss, Iceland, I helped build a turf wall using only traditional tools. At Solheimar, I assisted a landscape architect with the creation of a Permaculture exhibit using chickens to tend a garden to help free up some time for the locals as well as allow the chickens a larger space to occupy.

Goals

I am looking forward to pursuing a future in the field of architecture in some way that will benefit society and our environment. I would like to work on creating low cost sustainable housing for developing countries after I complete my graduate degree.
