Capstone[edit | edit source]

All ECE/MSE capstone projects purchases that are using the capstone budget need to be approved through the Electronics Shop, for tracking purposes. If the project is being funded through the advisors budgets or industrial partners then the groups can purchase through the Electronics Shop or alternate supplier.

Most the of electrical/electronic parts are from the Electronics Shop or through our suppliers. The Electronics Shop has a laser cuter (for plastic/paper) https://www.eng.uwo.ca/electrical/pdf/eshop/Laser_Cutting.pdf, PCB manufacturing (up to two layers, no through holes platting), and FDM 3D printers. To have items made, the groups can submit the appropriate files. The student can also have UMS (University Machine Services) manufacture parts on their equipment but the groups need to bring quotes to The Electronics Shop for approval (if using the capstone budget). Any external services (water jet etc.) quotes need to be approved by Electronics Shop before the purchase is made.
