Computer Network and System Administration[edit | edit source]

I am majoring in Computer Network and System Administration, with hopes on going into network security. I have been trained on both Linux and Windows machines, as well as the Internetworking Operating System by Cisco. I have done administration over both Active Directory and several windows processes. Currently, I am tacking classes on database management, storage area networks, and network security. Along with my major related classes, I have widened my knowledge using my electives. I have taken several classes in electrical engineering technologies, such as telecommunications, digital logic, and general electronics. I also completed MTU's project management courses, using the PMI program.

Field Technician at Now Micro[edit | edit source]

For the summer of 2013, I was a field technician for Now Micro, a computer consulting firm which was under the MN Swift contract for the state of Minnesota's IT services. The majority of my job consisted of using Ghost 11 and powershell to migrate computers from Windows XP to Windows 7. Along with this, I did various Active Directory jobs, such as adding printers and computers to the domain, as well as tracking assets in the Remedy ticking system. When not in the field, I worked in production, assembling PCs and NUCs.

Python Developer at Los Alamos National Laboratory[edit | edit source]

For the summer of 2014, I worked within the High Performance Computing Division at Los Alamos National Lab. I developed the open source monitoring program Zenoss, working in Python, HTML, and SQL. I focused on providing a graphical layout of the Compute Nodes within the super computers so operators could find faults within the clusters.

Network Security Administrator at Drs. Foster and Smith (now Petco)[edit | edit source]

Currently I am the junior Security Administrator at Drs. Foster and Smith pet supply and pharmacy (recently purchased by Petco). I work with Spam monitoring and response, policy and PCI compliance, as well as help with Active Directory and Virtual Machine Administration.

Battle Stations[edit | edit source]

I have designed, budgeted and built home computing systems for myself and family. These computers have been used for multiple purposes.

Server Projects[edit | edit source]

I have worked on configuring servers for both home and enterprise use. Using old home computers, I have set up media and file servers for my family, mostly on a Linux background. In class I have configured servers to run DNS, DHCP, NFS, SMB, and many more, using RHEL and Windows server.

Coding Experience[edit | edit source]

I have experience working in Python, HTML, SQL, and Perl as well as education in Java, C, and C++. Some home programs include RISK dice probabilities generation, websites to input and extract information from a Maria Database. The database is used to examine plays-through and optimize strategies for the co-operative board game pandemic.

VM Security Game[edit | edit source]

As part of my senior design project, I helped design an educational game to teach High School and College students about Cyber Security. The game uses VMs to teach examples of certain attacks, such as SQL Injection, Man in the Middle, and DDos. Other levels focus on Phishing, Social Engineering, and programming. My work on the project involved level and scoring design (see game design below) and writing the scoring information to place users scores into a database, using Python and MySQL and tornado web socket.

Exploits: A Hackers Game[edit | edit source]

In October 2013, I kickstarted a card game called Exploits (link here[1]). Exploits captures the concept of a payload>exploit>vulnerability>target attack and delivers it in a simple way that individuals can learn. It also teaches about other networking concepts and services. While the kickstarter was unsuccessful, I am in the process of releasing the game as made to order. I learned a lot and plan on running more kickstarter projects in the future.

Photo Hunt Website[edit | edit source]

An concept I have been working on is a website where groups can host photo scavenger hunts. This can be used by companies and communities for promotional services or by private folks for fun. People respond well to a little friendly competition, this provides folks with an excuse to explore things they wouldn't normally for the sake of a game. This project is still in the design phases.
