Phil is an Environmental Resources Engineering major at Cal Poly Humboldt. Before attending Humboldt, he spent six years active duty in the US Navy and deployed to the Middle East on the USS John C Stennis (CVN 74) in 2018 - 2019 during Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
During his time on CVN 74, Phil worked closely with the Industrial Hygiene Officer to ensure the ship's working environment and the crew's occupational practices met Navy Occupational Safety and Health guidelines. Phil also worked extensively in Deck Operations to aid in mooring, anchoring, ship navigation, at-sea-replenishments, and man-overboard operations.
He was stationed in Charleston, SC; Bremerton, WA; Norfolk, VA.
