I'm originally from the mid-west but I've lived in Flagstaff, Arizona for 20 years. I've been DJ'ing for 24 years (WHOA!) but have only been paid to play in bars/clubs for the last 17. I've worked in the coffee industry for years. For the last 3 years I've been working as an espresso/coffee equipment repair service technician with my company, Arizona Espresso which is an LLC owned by a local coffee roaster called Firecreek Coffee. I drive all over Greater Arizona fixing peoples coffee equipment. I drove over 40,000 miles last year and completed around 100 service calls. So yeah... I've fixed espresso machines at the Grand Canyon.

Interests in Engineering[edit | edit source]

  • I am very interested in learning more about water resource management: filtration, management, delivery on the municipal or county/regional level.
  • I am also interested in being proactive in reducing the carbon footprint of the service industry. As with most aspects of mitigating the destructive impact of capitalism, this is an uphill battle, but one that engages me fully. Convincing companies to re-monetize will be crucial.
  • Curbing fossil fuel extraction of course is a huge goal, so making alt energy production doable as an economic incentive is paramount. Gotta make it a no brainer for the investors... with no brains.

Experience in Engineering[edit | edit source]

  • My experience working with espresso machines has given me a great practical education in electro-mechanical hydraulic systems with the eye always on water chemistry. After hours service calls in remote locations means the technician has limited parts and tools on hand and no official customer support phone bank. Mostly walking in blind to fix situations that were poorly described by a cafe manager, if at all, makes one flexible, able to respond to random developments with alacrity to fix any problem.
  • Working as a DJ/event creator, sometimes we have to get very creative in carrying out the production as a team. Stagecraft amid sub ideal conditions makes one think on their feet and work with the team and resources you have to make a magical experience for all.
  • I used to work for an office products and furniture company. Often times, customers would pick out furniture from a catalog, not having actually measured the space they want it installed. I was in charge of delivering and building the furniture, often with a small team under me. That's where I first gained experience generating creative solutions while delegating and keeping morale up as we move toward the goal.

Portfolio[edit | edit source]
